# How to use the Freeze effect

### Freeze effect

Add a pause to your templates to **freeze** the action and make parts of the video look like a still photo!

* Choose a project or start a new one by pressing on [+Template](https://help.zoomerang.app/en/article/how-to-create-a-tutorial-1m0gon7/?1607430096265)

*  After proceeding with the steps, you will notice an Editing Panel at the bottom of your screen with the options of which you can add items to your video

* Press **Effect** button and search for **Pause** in the **Base** section

* After selecting the effect, you will see options in the editing panel below

* You will need to adjust the **Alpha** by swiping the line left & right and put [keyframes](https://help.zoomerang.app/en/article/how-to-animate-layers-keyframes-pwmvv2/?bust=1628689562311) on the video
_Note: If you have used more than one effect on the video, use the **Back/Front** button to adjust them_

* Besides, you can also choose to **Split** and **Duplicate** the effect or **Remove** it completely
